Thanks for your interest in New Door Books, an independent press for independent readers.
Our submissions schedule depends on how busy we are. If this portal is closed, check back again in a few weeks.
We are interested in book-length manuscripts of fiction or creative nonfiction.
Dear Writing Community,
For Fall 2026 submissions, we're focusing on WalkAbout, our series of books, both fiction and creative nonfiction, in which walking plays a central role. Follow this link for more details about the series.
After clicking Submit, please use the Cover Letter field to provide a synopsis of your work and an explanation of how it relates to the walking theme. Also include (a) a short biographical statement and (b) the total number of words in the complete work.
For the File Upload, attach about 50 pages of your manuscript in Word, RTF, or PDF format. If we enjoy that sample, we'll come back to you to ask for more. (There's no additional submission fee if we request the full manuscript.)
Please make sure to number the pages in your sample. And doublespace the lines, please. Also, since one of our regular readers has a deep aversion to two spaces after periods, it'd be best to avoid those. (Pace old-school typing teachers!)
We look forward to reading your work.
